The blog title in my header since moving back from China is "from one experience into the next". It refers to present life as it feels right now.?In China I had the feeling I was jumping in at the deep end non stop. When moving into a world that is so different to your own, where you don't know anybody at first, you don't know the language and culture it's easy to feel lost.?In the world of expats there's being organized a lot so in theory you won't have to get bored at all.?But... Friday Foodday: Tomatoes

From A world to experience, 4 weeks ago, Read 0 times. Similar articles

Tomatoes. If I would have to choose one vegetable/fruit that plays a significant role in my life it would be the tomato. Even before I was born.?My dad is an horticultural consultant and mainly gives advice on growing tomatoes. In glass houses. I was born in the region in the Netherlands that always has been important in the glass house industry. When you fly into the Netherlands at night you will see the many many glass houses below you, all lightened up in orange. It gives me that... Read more

Happy Easter weekend

I haven't been blogging much lately. Due to computer problems I haven't been online much and I have going on a lot as well. Hope to be around more frequently though. I miss it.?We spent the Easter weekend biking in the south west of our country in the beautiful province of Zeeland so I thought I'd share some pics of it with you.?Zeeland is called our sun province, because they normally have the most hours of sunshine in the year. The weather forecasts were not too promising for the... Read more

Superstition or what...

For this year I have a Year of the Dragon?diary. I got it as a gift and I'm loving it! It's like a bit of a leftover from my previous life. It feels familiar and yet not at all.The Chinese are well known for choosing dates for specific things. Remember for example the Beijing Olympics started on 8 August 2008 at 8 minutes past 8, because eight is a lucky number. Now in my diary for each day there's written something specific like:"trading""opening""money gaining""house... ski holiday at Christmas timeYesterday I started writing a blog entry about a book I had been reading in the past weeks. Suddenly I got distracted by a news flash about one of our royals who happened to be in a ski accident (avalanche) in Austria.?I know there are many accidents like this, most of the time with not so well known people, I have witnessed awful ski accidents myself and most of these accidents are not even mentioned in the national press, let alone the international... Skate fun

From A world to experience, 3 month ago, Read 0 times. Similar articles

This will be the last weekend of skating - for a while at least. Temperature will rise again in the coming days. So of course we wanted to go skating. The weather is awesome this weekend, clear blue sky, sunny. Cold of course, but I like this crispy dry cold.?It's so much fun to skate again. I hadn't been skating for a few years, in the past years it has been possible to skate in the Netherlands quite a few times but I was either living in China or otherwise abroad. So it had been a while... Read more
