Enjoying Outside

From Deer Park Farms, 3 days ago, Read 0 times. Similar articles

I’m loving the unseasonably warm weather that we’ve been having here. ?Days like these are the reason why we tolerate the nastiness of Oregon the rest of the time. The weather report says the rain comes back and the temperatures drop next week, but that’s next week, not this one, so we’ve been spending as much time as possible outside in the sunshine! ?Ellie loves being able to run around barefoot, climb on her play structure, play in her play house, and ride around on... Vanilla-Honey Spritzer

From Deer Park Farms, 3 days ago, Read 0 times. Similar articles

*Straight from MarthaStewart.com 2/3 cup honey 1/2 cup water 1 vanilla bean, split and scraped 1/4 cup fresh lime juice (I use Santa Cruz Organic brand) 4 cups soda water (or sparkling wine) 1. Bring honey, water and vanilla bean to a simmer in a sauce pan. Cook, stirring until honey dissolves. ?Let cool completely. Strain through a fine sieve (I used a metal coffee filter) – there will still be some seeds. 2. Pour into pitcher, stir in lime juice, and top with soda water. Read more

Mother's Day

From Deer Park Farms, 1 weeks ago, Read 0 times. Similar articles

love I usually dread Mother’s Day. My first three were, well, pretty rough. Today changed that…and I’m happy about the change! Wow. We fit a ton of stuff in. Holy mackerel! Ellie was up at the crack of dawn as usual, and ready for me to get her dressed and do an art project. I explained to her that most families were celebrating Mother’s Day and that Daddy was going to help her this morning…to my surprise this actually worked, and they were off to breakfast and... Just One Day at DPF

From Deer Park Farms, 1 weeks ago, Read 0 times. Similar articles

I still haven’t caught up on my sleep…Ellie has been so insanely clingy the last few weeks, that I can’t even go pee without her having a meltdown. ?I remember similar days with Rocco – “MELISSSSSSSA,” he would scream. With him, I thought it was cute; but for whatever reason, it ain’t so cute coming from my own kid. ?Good lord, by the way she pushes anyone other than Mommy aside,?you’d think they were all beating her, and I was giving her candy... The Bahamas

From Deer Park Farms, 1 weeks ago, Read 0 times. Similar articles

Goodness Gracious. Since my last rather open, vulnerable and maybe just-a-wee-bit-too-personal post, things have been a-happening. The changes that I’ve seen in myself have taken me aback, and this new found sense of stability and acceptance is – excuse my french – f’ing awesome. Even so, I was definitely happy that we had planned a trip to the Bahamas for a few weeks. The timing couldn’t have been better! Over the years I’ve spent a lot of time in the... Read more

The Beginning of the Rest of my Life

From Deer Park Farms, 1 month ago, Read 0 times. Similar articles

The last three weeks have been incredibly emotional for me. ? Many of you know that when the subjects of religion and politics come up in conversation, I keep my mouth shut. It isn’t because they’re not important to me, it’s quite the opposite. ?As a child, religion (and thus political views) were oppressively held over my head and used to control all aspects of my life; because of this, I walk carefully and sensitively when it comes to a person’s irrevocable right to... Thrift Store Fashion.

I’m going to try something different tonight. ?I’ve been trying to get back to posting frequently – even if I never get back to writing a post every night. Things have been completely upside down, tragic, and difficult for me lately, and for whatever reason, I’ve found solace in fashion. ?I suppose it’s my way of holding myself together – or at least presenting myself as such. Reality is, I’m cheap…..and addicted to “finds.” My... Read more

Easter Party 2012

From Deer Park Farms, 1 month ago, Read 0 times. Similar articles

This has not been what I would call a good week. In fact, I’m not going to hide it, it has been beyond emotional. ?I’m not quite ready to go into details, and I’m not even sure what I’m feeling. I have always believed that the best way through hard times is focusing on the positive parts of life, and I have a lot of things that ARE good. Finding what my dear friend has named her “Cool Sally” within, I stand proud, confident, and hopeful that things will turn... Read more

Easter Egg Holders

Having an Easter Egg Decorating party presented me with some interesting challenges….how the heck could we dry everyone’s eggs and make sure that the didn’t all get mixed up…here’s my solution: Sliced Paper Straws in half, and used white glue to secure them in the holes of the egg crate. ?
