We Love Running Water (and Why Houses in the Tropics Don't Have Hot Water)

From LifeTransPlanet, 3 weeks ago, Read 0 times. Similar articles

It’s funny how easy it is to become complacent and ungrateful for all the things you have in your life. Even all the little things. Like screens on your windows, hot water in your shower, consistent electricity and Internet, and running water in your kitchen sink. You realize how great you have it once you no longer do. Another of our goals on this trip was to hook up hot water to the shower and get water to the kitchenette sink in the cabana. We are slowly making this place more and more... Read more

Fort Collins Backyard Hens Article

From LifeTransPlanet, 2 year ago, Read 0 times. Similar articles

Video of our chickens this summer Britton stumbled upon this great article about Fort Collins’ Backyard Hen policy. So I had to email the author, Mike Taylor, and see if he had any interest in helping us with our cause. He said he is definitely interested in watching what comes out of Greeley and may even write something in his magazine. He sounds like a very interesting person, and in fact lived without going to the grocery store for a month with the help of his garden and backyard... Read more

Low Key Snowy Christmas in Greeley

From LifeTransPlanet, 2 year ago, Read 0 times. Similar articles

We have had a very low-key quiet and SNOWY Christmas in Greeley this year. We got about 8-10 inches of snow in the last couple of days. The white Christmas is pretty in its own way, but so cold! We finally put the heat lamp in the chicken coop last night because as I mentioned earlier, two of the girls are molting and must be pretty cold. Unfortunately, when Britton put it in at about 10pm last night (with negative 10 degree weather), he put it directly into the coop and this woke them up. They... Read more

Molting and debating chickens in Greeley

From LifeTransPlanet, 2 year ago, Read 0 times. Similar articles

Molting and debating chickens in Greeley. This title is a shout out to Wheel of Fortune’s “before and after” category. We have two of our chickens currently molting which means fewer eggs. For some reason, as we are learning, chickens molt in the dead of winter…when it got below freezing again, just like last year. Luckily, two of them are still laying though. We have also been busy debating the chickens’ very existence in our backyard with the Greeley City... Read more

Speaking of Movies'An Avatar Adventure

From LifeTransPlanet, 2 year ago, Read 0 times. Similar articles

A friend of mine asked if we wanted to see the Avatar at an IMAX theater in 3D. Being a tech geek of sorts I was all in on this one. I went online and reserved a few tickets Thursday because being opening weekend we knew it might be tough to get in. We had an adventure in the morning with car problems that started the day off in a crazy way. Cassie’s car has been having coolant issues, so she decided to take mine because she thought it might break down. If you leave a car outside here... Read more

Casi Casi -Almost Cassie'

From LifeTransPlanet, 2 year ago, Read 0 times. Similar articles

The other day I happened upon this list of movies filmed or set in Puerto Rico. I thought this was so cool, so I set out to find some that looked familiar. I didn’t realize that so many famous movies were set there. Movies like Lord of the Flies, Jacob’s Ladder, even the new one The Men who Stare at Goats.  Some I did know were filmed there like  Captain Ron, Feel the Noise and El Cantante as well as the upcoming Rum Diary movie.   I was interested in checking out a few of the... Today I went to jail

From LifeTransPlanet, 2 year ago, Read 0 times. Similar articles

While technically that it is true (I did go to jail), it’s not what you might think. As part of our Leadership Weld County group, today’s outing consisted of learning about our public safety organizations such as the jail, Sheriff’s Office and Police Department. So, I did go to jail, but only for a visit. I thought the jail presentation was the most fascinating. They did a demonstration of how to extract a misbehaving jail inmate. I was able to get it on video. The... Read more

Happy New Year and New Beginning

From LifeTransPlanet, 2 year ago, Read 0 times. Similar articles

Britton and I celebrated the new year with just a few friends. I went over to my friend Kelly’s house for dinner while Britton met up with some of his friends who were visiting from Washington on Wednesday evening. Dinner with the girls Thursday I didn’t have to work, but he did, so I had a nice day to clean and get things in order. We have even started cleaning out, packing things up and are trying to sort through the rest of the things. Some of them are going to Goodwill, some to... Read more

Greeley Chicken Ordinance Update

From LifeTransPlanet, 2 year ago, Read 0 times. Similar articles

A backyard scene a while back Well it appears things are moving right along with the Greeley chicken ordinance. I didn’t realize it, but apparently this last weekend the Tribune gave their approval of backyard hens with their Op-Ed article. We also received a letter from the Weld County Food Bank Letter of Support that they support backyard hens. I thought it was a great and thoughtful letter. I have copied the text here so it will be easy to read: January 04, 2010 Becky SafarikGreeiey... Read more
